Unfortunately there will be no easy ride this week. Cheryle (my co-ride leader) is under strict orders from her physio to take it easy this week before our big ride to Seattle this weekend.
Date: June 18, 2009
Time: 6:30 at the end of Perth Road
Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced-be ready to ride uphill for at least an hour
Route: Up Mashiter Trail to the Sorca shelter then up the forest service road to Word of Mouth. Down Word of Mouth ending at Quest University.
Trails:
Mashiter: If you’re coming on this ride, you are probably very familiar with this trail. It is an old logging road that provides access to the Alice Lake Park area from the Highlands.
Word of Mouth: This trail is a little like Credit Line but with a lot more flow. Like Credit Line, it rolls through valleys and up to ridge tops. However, the ups and downs are less steep and I find them a lot more acheivable. Word of Mouth is rated as a blue trail on the map. I would say that is more towards the black end of the blue scale. It has some steep spots and tight corners that I can see being a challenge. That said, it is still a very new trail and so is still fairly smooth and forgiving. My favourite part of this trail is the bridge -watch out for the dip!
