Ride Date: April 23, 2009
Time: 5:45
Place: by the yellow gate at the end of Perth.
Ride Length: 1-2 hrs
Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate.
This week’s ride is going to be a longer pedal than last week’s. You should be comfortable riding on a gentle uphill grade for about an hour and be able to navigate small rocks, roots, and corners on the downhill portion. Please ask for help if you have trouble negotiating some of the obstacles- I’ll be happy to give you some tips!
The start of this ride has two options: Lumberjacks or down Pia and along a nice mellow trail that meets up with the end of Lumberjack’s. (If you know the name of this one, let me know!)
Lumberjack’s Trail
Lumberjack is a blue crosscountry biking trail. It contains, to my minds eye, lots of challenges. It is full of root tangles, tight corners, closely set trees, small bridges in unexpected places, and hill surprises. Again, it is a relatively easy ride for an intermediate mountain biker and a good challenge for an advanced beginner.
Jack’s Trail
This is an easy single-track trail. It is wider than most of the single-track in Squamish, so allows for lots of room to work on steering. It’s moderate slope makes it a great place to practice braking and balancing on the bike.
Riders will encounter small roots, rocks, and few logs, and a bridge to ride over.
I’m looking for someone to help lead this ride. Let me know if you would like to volunteer!
See you on the trails!
Jen
