There is mountain biking in Squamish for every skill level !!
This blog has been created to showcase “Dirt Divas”, a free mountain bike ride with Jen Bass as the leader. She is a certified mountain bike instructor who wants to encourage more women in Squamish to take up mountain biking and/or improve their skills.
To accomplish this she plans a new ride each Thursday, planned for women but men are welcome as well. These rides generally last between 1 1/2 to 2 hours and vary from week to week as to the degree of difficulty. The first ride of the month is always the easiest, and each ride increases in technical and physical difficulty after that. At the beginning of the next month, we start all over again, so don’t worry if you miss one! There is always a description of the ride and what kind of a trail, ie. green, blue, black diamond, etc.
She has always pre-ridden the trail and knows where difficult spots, or changes from previous years, are. At each change or challenge she stops, gives a description of the change or challenge and how to navigate it. So, there is instruction involved as well as just a ride. Hence, the opportunity to improve your skills.
There will be maps and pictures, as they can be incorporated.
This site will also endeavor to let people know about some of the activities that are available for those of us with lesser skills. Of course, I will also add the better known events as well, as a site on mountain bike riding in Squamish wouldn’t be complete without them.
It is a work in progress and hopefully will improve as I go along.
If you have any suggestions, add a comment and I will try to include them.
Good riding.
